Society is ageing across Western Europe and with it, the workforce. Are skill shortages inevitable? Are companies in Europe ready? Based upon "Demographic Fitness" research in 11 countries from 2006, annual Adecco Institute white papers assess the evolution of organisational age awareness and proactivity across measurable criteria. The Adecco Institute Demographic Fitness Survey measures companies' age-related awareness and actions offerings in five key areas:
- Career management
- Lifelong learning
- Knowledge management
- Health management
- Age diversity
Demographic Fitness Survey 2008
In its third year and including more countries than ever before, the survey assigns a Demographic Fitness Index (DFX) on a score of 100–400 points to companies, based on their performance in the five areas of age-related human resources activity, and also determines an aggregated countrywide score.
